Will I find myself in the kingdom of God?

Hi friends,

A member of the Uncommon Pursuit community from Kenya wrote to ask me this:

What I have been asking myself as a born again child of God is that when the eschatology comes will I find myself in the kingdom of God?

And as a young man who is still growing in this journey what are the things I should do to secure my place in the kingdom of God?

I wanted to share it with our community so we could each prayerfully offer some encouragement to our brother in Christ.

Thank you so much for sharing this heartfelt question with us. I’m grateful for our brother in Kenya and for the honesty behind what he’s wrestling with. These are questions so many Christians carry but never speak aloud. What a blessing that he’s invited us into his journey!

To our brother I would say — your desire to belong fully to God’s kingdom is already evidence of the Spirit’s work in you! Paul reminds us that, “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion” (Philippians 1:6). Our confidence does not rest in the strength of our faith or the consistency of our righteousness but in the finished work of Christ. Jesus promises, “Whoever comes to me I will never cast out” (John 6:37), and Peter tells us that we are “kept by the power of God through faith for salvation” (1 Peter 1:5).

The New Testament emphasizes again and again that salvation is grounded in God’s grace, and not in our performance (Ephesians 2:8–9). As you continue to grow in the faith, I would encourage you to think less in terms of “securing your place” and more in terms of responding to the love God has already given you. Scripture invites us into rhythms that shape our life with God: remaining in communion with Christ (John 15:4–5), devoting ourselves to Scripture (Psalm 119:105), praying continually (1 Thessalonians 5:17), fellowshipping with believers (Hebrews 10:24–25), and walking in love and righteousness (Galatians 5:22–25). These practices don’t earn salvation or security; they help us live more fully in the relationship God has already established with us in Christ.

We’re with you, praying for you, and encouraged by your earnest desire to follow Jesus and openness about your questions. May God strengthen your faith, calm your anxieties, and fill you with the assurance that you belong to Him both now and forever (Romans 8:38–39).
