Why does God provide for me? (Reflections from John)

I just finished reading through the gospel of John with the daily devotional I get from Friends Following Jesus and was reflecting on my takeaways from this journey.

The devotional I have returned to the most in my thoughts and prayers has been the one from John 6:22-34. I am in a season of life where it is very tempting for me to view God as someone who I want to deliver things to me. In reverse, I can view myself as someone who just wants me to deliver things to him. This leads to me feeling anxious about my future and not trusting that God will provide for me, since in my mind his provision depends on me being good enough.

This passage reminds me that God’s provision and care for me is not dependent on what I can or can’t do for him.

What passages have stuck with you lately, either from John or another study?
