You have already heard about this hope in the word of truth, the gospel that has come to you. It is bearing fruit and growing all over the world, just as it has among you since the day you heard it and came to truly appreciate God’s grace…
Amazing. When there were but a few thousand Christians, Paul said the gospel was growing all over the world. It was then. But look back on it now!! We can still say, the gospel is growing all over the world!
There are many narratives of religious decline. But perhaps some of this loss is a healthy pruning of what was already diseased or dead. Paul had confidence that God’s gospel was growing all over the world. Because it is God’s work, and God does not change, we can have the same hope.
This hope energizes my gospel work even as it gives me the peace to rest.
