Hey,
We can all get discouraged. I can get discouraged.
Psalm 30 is an encouragement for my soul!
It reads in part,
I will exalt you, Lord,
for you lifted me out of the depths
and did not let my enemies gloat over me.Lord my God, I called to you for help,
and you healed me.You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead;
you spared me from going down to the pit.Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people;
praise his holy name.For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.
I love how David is so honest about the human condition. We do go into the depths sometimes. We do weep in discouragement.
But who lifts us up? We don’t have to do it. We aren’t required to save ourselves or fix all our problems. God is the one who brings us up. He brings rejoicing into our hearts. He fulfills our deepest needs.
God and God’s work is the reason we continue to rejoice.
