Don't be afraid

Today in my interview with Dr. Dana Kennamer, she shared Joshua 1:9:

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

I am encouraged by this verse. It reminds me of what Jesus said in Matthew 28:

“All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Jesus is acting as God (and, well, he is). He sends his people on a mission - his mission. As they go, they can be strong and courageous, not afraid or discouraged, because they know that God will be with them always.

Sometimes living for God’s purposes is hard. You get beat down. But knowing that God is with us, we can keep going.
