I’m so sorry to hear about your Grandfather’s passing @Carson and I’m praying for you and your family. I’m thankful for all of the fun you had together and the ways he cared for you by spending time with you.
I have never really known what All Saints Day was all about so thank you for sharing.
It is definitely a challenge to remember the whole truth about the saints who we honor.
Without David’s Psalms, I wouldn’t know how to be emotionally honest with God or even that it was ok to be. His trust in God throughout many years fleeing from Saul who was hunting him unjustly, is so incredible and such a challenge to live up to. And yet his later life stands as a sober warning to all not to grow complacent in one’s faith, as he brings ruin and destruction down on so many families and on so much of the kingdom by living in pride and following his lustful desires. Though he repents of his sins during this time, the lasting pain and consequences are immense. It’s both terrifying and hard to believe that this is the same person who spared Saul time and time again as he trusted in the Lord to preserve him and sought to honor Him in all he did.
One person to whom I am very thankful for all that they have done to shape my walk with Jesus is my Granny.
She is so consistently loving towards all those around her.
Her prayer life too is inspiring. I have shared prayer requests with her before and had her ask me for updates 5 years later sharing about how she has been praying for that person and how they are on her heart.
Finally, it’s been amazing to see the way that she pursues God and clings to him as she takes care of my grandpa in his progressing dementia. She remains joyful for every little blessing that God brings, she brings her questions and her pain to Him, and she loves and cares for my grandpa so well.
I’m very thankful for having her example of faith and love in my life and for her consistent prayer on my behalf. God has definitely taught me a lot, brought so much encouragement, and challenged me to trust Him and love others more fully through all that He has shown me through her.
Is there a family member or a particular saint of old who has had a significant role in shaping your walk with Jesus?
