In recent weeks, more than 20 Chinese brothers and sisters in Christ were taken and remain in custody at undisclosed locations. Those taken were pastors and ministry leaders from Zion Church, a leading evangelical church in Beijing that now has 100 house churches across China
Four of them have been released on bail in the last few days, but the situation continues to call for urgent prayer.
These Christians are suffering wrong for the sake of the gospel. Zion Church’s Christian beliefs that are theoretically protected under Chinese law but communist authorities have been harassing their members and leaders since 2018.
Members have been placed under surveillance, questioned by police, closing down their main worship site in Beijing, and other forms of intimidation. None of this has been effective, of course. Despite members being placed under surveillance and questioned by police and their Beijing site being closed, Zion Church continues to grow. Today they have house churches in over 40 cities and thousands of members.
Would you join me and other believers in praying for our Chinese brothers and sisters?
I am praying for:
- the quick release of the imprisoned Christians
- the presence of the Holy Spirit in prison
- opportunities to share the Good News of Christ with guards and fellow prisoners
- continued faithfulness among Chinese Christians
