A Daily, Five Minute Routine For Spiritual Growth

Hi friends,

Today, I want to give you a simple, daily, five minute routine for spiritual growth.

It starts with a very simple question: Today, what does it mean to follow Jesus?

And it ends with a straightforward answer: To love God and love others.

Look, if you can fit in more than that, go for it. You have my permission, support, and encouragement!

But speaking as a regular person, most of us struggle to do more than love God and love others.

So here’s your five-minute routine!

Step 1: (15 seconds) Get a piece of paper.*

Step 2: (15 seconds) Get a pencil or pen.

Step 3: (15 seconds) On the left side of the page, write down “Love God” and underline it.

Step 4: (15 seconds) On the right side of the page, write down “Love Others” and underline it.

Step 5: (90 seconds) Write down 1-3 ways to love God today.

Step 6: (90 seconds) Write down 1-3 actions to love your neighbor today.

Step 7: (30 seconds) Use your phone to take a picture of your list and send it to a friend. Ask them to pray for you.

Step 8: (30 seconds) Take the last thirty seconds to pray. Ask God to give you the strength to follow through.

It’s that simple. In five minutes, you can make a simple plan to love God and love your neighbor today.

I understand if this feels rushed or incomplete.

But simple is sustainable. Give it a try.

Remember, it’s not about perfection but consistent small steps.

This quick daily practice can help you focus on following Jesus each day.

Why not try it tomorrow morning? You might be surprised by how it deepens your walk with God.

If you want bonus points, look at your sheet at the end of the day and reflect on how your plan went. Do so in the presence of a God who loves you, cares for you, and is good to you.

Hi @Carson, thanks for sharing! I tried this out yesterday, and, though I had already planned most of the ways I ended up writing down to love God and love others, it was still helpful to write them down and see what I was doing. It helped me to be more intentional about my response to God throughout the day!
